April 12-13-14th, 2021
Barcelona

On April 12th, 13th and 14th, a sampling campaign took place to characterize a short-term pollution event in the bathing water of the beaches of Barcelona. The pollution event was caused by heavy rains that involved an overflow of untreated water. It was a short episode, where in a few hours the water was suitable for bathing again. It has been possible to demonstrate a good general traceability between the microbiological measurement of aquaBio equipment and the measurement in the laboratory, as well as a good traceability between the point of capture of aquaBio equipment with the usual point of measurement of bathing water quality. by the competent administration. There has also been a very good correlation with predictions of the marine pollution dispersion model.
